Warm temperatures are here to stay and with them comes the high season for exterior spaces. Although not everybody is lucky enough to have a garden or a backyard, we don’t believe in limitations. What we do believe in is making the most of what we have, be it a plain floor or a tiny balcony.
A quick note before we start: despite the fact that this article is mostly focused on small balconies, all the suggestions here included can be applied to spaces of any size. If you happen to have a bigger terrace, you’ll just have more space to make it shine.
Don’t underestimate its capacity
Even though your balcony may seem small there’s more to it than meets the eye. To make the most of it you can use shelves and hanging tables that optimize the space. At the same time, you can choose furniture that doubles as storage – such as boxes that can be used as stools. Imagination is the best way to reach your balcony’s full potential.
One plant, a thousand options
There is a plant for everybody… and for every balcony. We can choose plants of different sizes to create a garden effect, opt for high plants to make the space more intimate or hang little flowerpots on the outside of the banister to avoid taking up space. The options are almost limitless. It all depends on the atmosphere you want to give your balcony.
Your new favorite place
Even though the balcony is in the home’s exterior, that doesn’t mean it should be less cozy than the interior rooms. We can add elements that make it comfier, such as carpets and pillows, or play with lighting to create a warm and intimate environment. With these tricks your balcony will become the most demanded place in the house.
