This year Pantone, the world expert in color, has surprised us launching not only one 2016 color, as usual, but two: Rose Quartz and Serenity. These are two pastel hues, rose and blue, that complement each other. It’s a big change from last year’s color, Marsala, which was a wine tone, with much more personality and strength. On the contrary, this year’s colors are more peaceful and relaxing, perfect to create a cozy home, a space to unwind. Rose Quartz is warm and welcoming, while Serenity is calmer. They are both easy to adapt to interior decor, being it together or on their own.
It’s a delicate and feminine color that can adopt different personalities. On the one hand, on its own or combined with other pastels and soft colors, it creates warm and soothing environments. On the other hand, it can be combined with hues that make it pop. For example, tones like black, pine green or Klein Blue can highlight it in order to create bolder and more modern atmospheres.
As one can tell by its name, Serenity is the ideal color to create a peaceful space. It’s specially adequate for bedrooms and other rooms where one looks for relaxation and calm. It’s also perfect to unify color palettes, because it can be used as a base for other colors, so they can attract more attention. Therefore, it’s appropriate for big elements (like walls) but also for details, like rugs and cushions.
